Steven Chu is Awesome
The latest wave of government competence is very comforting and would be rather worrying to people who have spent their whole lives shouting about big government. But this effort probably tops them all.
This might not be terribly impressive to the trained scientists, but for the rest of us, the Secretary of Energy recommending we use gamma rays to penetrate layers of thick steel is pretty cool.
Again, life is more exciting than fiction. If only we have an American version of Yes Minister! The BP oil spill would have made a great episode. Can you imagine Sir Humphrey responding to a suggestion to use gamma radiation to diagnose an oil spill?
