Just ask them

I am following the news coverage of the GE elections and how PM Lee declared that PAP has passed some sort of test that they themselves conducted, using criteria decided on by their own toadies staff, and then I was watching the West Wing. And I suddenly realised what was so incredibly weird about Singaporean democracy. There is no polling.

No wonder. I’ve been wondering how the PAP can claim they have the support of most Singaporeans anyway. What policies have been well-received by the public? What issues have the PAP done well on? How many Singaporeans think the government has done a good job managing the economy? Surely this is a better source of feedback than the angry letters we get from random people who mail in because they are taking a break from masturbation just before they go for lunch.
